Final recommendation

What I would do

Primary choice: find a verified ensuite room in a postgraduate shared property within St Clement's, Jericho, Osney or the western Cowley Road area, ideally at £250–£300 per week.
1

Best value decision

Take a clean, quiet ensuite with a good desk and a 20-minute walk, even if the kitchen is shared. This is the most sensible balance of privacy, study suitability and cost.

2

Best managed fallback

Choose Student Castle when a suitable room is available and the total contract cost is acceptable. It is the most attractive premium compromise.

3

Best full-privacy option

Choose Alice House only when a self-contained studio is worth paying at least £59 per week above the top of the preferred range.

4

Best flexible premium enquiry

Ask Spireworks about a shorter contract. A shorter premium tenancy may cost less overall than a cheaper 51-week room.

The acceptance rule

Accept the first room that meets all five essentials:

  1. Verified landlord or provider.
  2. Private bathroom.
  3. Proper desk and quiet study conditions.
  4. Manageable route to Lincoln College.
  5. Total contract cost remains comfortable.
Do not lose a strong room while waiting for perfection. Oxford supply is tight, and a very good ensuite room at £290 is likely to be a better outcome than holding out for a £250 studio that may never appear.
